WW1 Tank kits in 1/72-76 Scale

This is a list of 1/72-76 scale WW1 Tank kits that I know of. It is updated whenever I hear of new kits. Please feel free to drop a line. (For explanation of the quality rating system, see bottom of page.)

A7V	Kora Models	Resin & Photo-Etch		Delicate, scale-true detail, separate suspension and tracks, Photo-etched details, very good instructions. They produce kits of three variants: Early, Middle & late. See this review.

A7V	W.A. Productions	Resin	?	French firm, who is said to produce fairly good kits. Haven't seen it myself. Is there anyone out there who has?

A7V	Fine Scale Factory	Resin		Nice shape, excellent details. The best resin A7V that can be bought today. See Fine Scale Factorys own picture of the model.
FCM 2C	Gramodels	Resin		Good, but not perfect. Captures the shape of the original very well, but is somewhat lacking in detail - e.g. bad rivets. Optional parts for both late or early engine superstructure. No instructions, which can be a bother, as it contains a number of small parts.
Fiat 2000	W.A. Productions.	Resin	?	French firm, who is said to produce fairly good kits. Haven't seen it myself. Is there anyone out there who has or knows where one can buy it?

FT-17	RPM	Plastic		RPM have issued kits of practically ALL big variants, including the Russian "Reno" and the US "6-tonner". See this review! Another review (in French) can be found here. Some kits are worth buying for the decal sheets alone! But mind you: the fit is rather poor, and the whole kit VERY complicated to build.
FT-17 Omnibus MG	HÄT	Plastic		Simplified, quick-to-build kit, following the Armourfast concept. Accurate in basic shape. Purists will want to detail it. Two kits in each box! See this review.
FT-17 Girod Cannon	HÄT	Plastic		Simplified, quick-to-build kit, following the Armourfast concept. Accurate in basic shape. Purists will want to detail it. Two kits in each box! See this review.
FT-17	Matchbox	Plastic		Riveted "Omnibus"-turret. Both gun & MG variants. Boxed together with the Char B1. Is now discontinued: get it if you can!
FT-17	AL.BY	Resin		Cast "Girod"-turret. Both gun & MG variants. Individual track-links. A superb kit.
FT-17 TSF	AL.BY	Resin		Individual track-links. A superb kit. No decals. Also see this review.
FT-17	Retromodels	Resin		Includes internal detail. They manufacture a number of variants of this AFV, including Signal tank, 75mm Howitzer tank and even a Balloon tank!
FT-17 TSF	BW Models	White Metal		They also manufacture variant with cast "Girod"-turret.
FT-17	Reviresco	White Metal	?	Haven't seen it, but according to Michal Derela it's "nice-looking".

Mk I Male	Airfix	Plastic		An old kit, but can still be made into a nice model. Lots of possibilities for conversions. See Hans van Oerles excellent article on correcting the Airfix kit. See also Graham Matthews very helpful notes on building a full 1:76 scale interior for this kit. And of course you must check out David Maynards discussion of this classic kit.

Mk IV Female	Black Star	Resin		Will only satisfy wargamers, but see this model by Pat Storto.
Mk IV Male	Matador Models	Resin		Conversion kit, correcting the sponsons of the Emhar Mk IV Male model. Crisp, sharp mouldings.
Mk IV Female	Emhar	Plastic		Some details a bit on the heavy side, but otherwise a very nice and accurate kit. Lots of possibilities for conversions. For references on the real thing, see this page.

Schneider CA 1	BUM	Resin	?	SCW variant Seems to be a rather poor. Comes with a metal figure. Click here to see more.

Schneider CA 1	Crusader Models	Resin	?	Haven’t seen this one.

The quality ratings can be translated thus: 1 star = Crude; best avoided by everyone except Wargamers, 2 stars = Fair; can with quite an effort be made into a nice model, 3 stars = Good; but requires some work, 4 stars = Excellent; top notch kit, only very minor problems, 5 stars = Superb kit; hard to fault, can be built into an excellent replica straight out of the box.
