Surviving WW1 Tanks
by David Maynard

For the new version of the ‘Survivors’ list I have decided to give each vehicle a unique number, in an attempt to track any future changes, additions or re-identifications. I have also given the parallel numbers in the Armour Archive publications on preserved tanks in Russia and South Africa. When (if?) I find a copy of ‘Preserved Tanks in France’ I will update the list again. Replica tanks have been included in the list and given their own series of numbers well outside the range given to real vehicles. There has also been some reordering of the entries since last time.

References and Acknowledgements

Many of the sources used to compile this list can be found on the ‘Links’ page or in the book list. For most of the rest, I have simply entered various combinations into search engines and followed up the results.

After the first version of this list was posted, I got some very useful replies from Keith Dudley, Jim Matthiessen, Hans van Oerles and Gary Zimmer, all of which were very welcome. If I have left anyone off this list, my apologies, your contribution is in there somewhere.

Anyone who has any comments or further information please let me know I look forward to hearing it.
