The text of this book is all in
the Cyrillic Script, so all of us, eh, whose Russian is not up to scratch, will
have some difficulties in reading it, but still I really, trully recommend it.
(With any luck it will be translated, like the superb book on The Early Russian
Tanks by Armada.) This is the best book ever published on WW1 Armoured
Cars! The photos are sharp, crisp and for the most part never seen before. And
there is plenty of Line-art work, many very detailed, all in 1:35 scale. (Easily
converted with the use of a modern Copier.) In addition to this, there are som
really excellent
art work, showing both camouflage and markings. And you can see ALL the
different types used by the russians: and they were quite a few, as the Imperial
Army was in the forefront when it came to this novelty. And it includes the
Foreign types, like the French Charron and the different marks of Austins. (It
even has a small section on Russian Tank projects, where you among other things
can find a
photo of the giant "Tsar", that first I've ever encountered.) ![]() The book is some 106 pages thick, and comes with soft covers. It is organized by the different types, discussing and describing them one by one. It is a wonderful acheivement, and should not be missed by anyone interested in the Early Armoured Cars. Some years ago, the publications that came out of Russia, were often a bit crude. Not so anymore. This one is as good as anything published in the west, and even surpasses many of them, in it's generous supply of line-drawings. It can be ordered on this Russian site. |
