Matadors 1/72 Sponsons for Emhars Mk IV

EMHAR:s Mk IV Male is a pretty good kit, with a number of problems, and one REALLY big fault: the sponsons. The rear wall of the sponsons of the kit are set at 90º but were in reality set at a slight angle, to enable them to be pushed inside the hull when transported by rail. Also, the turret roof above the gun is too thin, making the part where the gun is mounted a bit too high. Also, the cut-outs for the gun should be of different shape and size on each side, due to the fact that the gun was located somewhat differently on each side, mainly in order to fit the sighting equipment. But Matador has now provided us with an easy fix for this problem, in the shape of a special kit (76E-17 "Sponson Set"). The kit contains two completely new sponsons, two new guns, plus 3 Hotchkiss MG:s and 3 Lewis MG:s. The rear door of the sponson is of the type seen on later Mk IV:s (and then on the Mk V). But, as it is pointed out in the plan tha accompany the kit - an excellent plan of course, typical of Matador - it is easy to backdate the door, simply by removing the protruding lower part.

The parts comes with some flash, but are otherwise very well moulded, with sharp and fine detail. An excellent kit! I hope Matador will do more of this kind. Why not a Tadpole tail for the Mk IV, or a new gun mounting for the A7V?
