IT Miniatures 1/72 Putilov m/02 Field Gun

The Putilov 76.2mm m/02 Field Gun is an important gun, as it made up the mainstay of the Russian Imperial Army's artillery during the Great War, and was then used by all sides in the Civil War, and then by the Soviet Army well into WW2. 

As always with kits from IT Miniatures (former IT Figures), it is aimed at the wargaming market, as it is easy to see from the picture. The parts are very few. But I must repeat myself: when it comes to wargaming kits, a good kit is one that can be used as a sound basis for further detailing, and this one is good for this, as the general outline and dimensions are fairly correct. 

Of course, it lacks a lot of detail: the inner shield is missing, the trail looks strange - it should be scooped out, not open, there is no dial sight, the elevating wheels are very crude, there is no traversing spike, no seats etc. I would also replace the shield altogether. But this is still a better kit than Banderas albysmal version. Anyone having a go at this kit, will be helped by the photos and plans below - just click on the thumbnails!
