Arie Dijkhuis Models

The 15cm Lange Eisenkanone was obsolete allready at the start of the war, but it's replacement, the 13cm K09, never reached sufficient numbers nor packed the punch of the earlier 15cm guns. Thus this gun remained in service for the rest of the war, even though by 1916 a modern replacement was introduced. Arie has scratchbuilt this gun, but perhaps it will eventually become a model kit, this one as well.

Again a kit of Aries very own making, from master on: notice that the pics show the model in almost triple the original size.

This beautiful combo was made from the Convoy kit, for which Arie actually did the master! So here is a model builder building the kit he has made himself.

"As for my 40cm St Chamond rail gun, yes, it is completely scratched. Well, apart from the wheels, I bought those at a rail model shop, but apart from that all scratched. The gun barrel is a cast of one of my drum sticks... :-) It took me a very long time to finish, as I kept putting the subject aside being to elaborate. In the end I decided to do the ammo car as well, thus completing the set. I have seen the 5-Star kit of the St Chamond, but it is a different version. I believe the 34cm or something like that anyway. It is one of the things I like to build before I grow old... :-)"

Arie is truly an ace modeller. That is obvious from these photos, but also from the fact that he is a part of that select but important group of modellers who does the masters for the kits that we others build. Arie has done work for BK Modelcraft, among others a 7.7cm FK 96 n/A, a 21cm Mörser, a Fahrpanzer, ha Field Bakery (!) and a 25cm schmerer Minenwerfer.
