Right now...

...I've started building HÄT's 1/72 10.5cm leichte Feldhaubitze m98/09 - that can be found in their "WW1 Ottoman Artillery Set". It is a simplified model, in soft plastic, intended in the first place for wargamers, but it also a fine basis for further detailing. On the picture below you can see the original model, without any modifications, and above it, my model with the different modifications. I have been inspired by Stephen Brezinskis superdetailing of the HÄT 7.7cm FK16, but in contrast to him, I have decided to keep the Gun Shield of the model. Granted, it is too thick, but the basic shape is OK, so I decided to keep it. A bit lazy perhaps, but there you have it.

The modifications and additions have been marked on the picture below. They are as follows:

  1. Outer steel bands on the wheels.

  2. New shield seats, with footrests.

  3. New side plates for the seats. And a new, smaller and off-set back cushion for the left seat.

  4. A "bottom plate" for the tail.

  5. Sloping sides from the recuperator, meeting the barrel.

  6. A new barrel made from hollow plastic rod - only way to get a hole in it.

  7. Dial sight and elevation drum - notice: the traverse and elevation wheels have not been added.

  8. Seats for both the Gunner and the Loader.

  9. A new short spade on top of the tool hatch.

  10. A new traverse spike, with mechanism, and lifting handles for the recoil spade.

Missing all together, but to be added after the painting has been done, are the elevation and traverse wheels, two rod-like braces connecting the tail and the shield, plus the wheel brake arms on the shield.
